According to The Sun: Summer has officially ended, and it’s time to replace vitamin D with vitamin P - pumpkin spice, a delicious autumn alternative.
What seasonal coffee drinks might entice you on the streets?
Sophie Warburton tried six seasonal coffees, picking her favorite Darren Fletcher Pumpkin lattes are a seasonal favorite in autumn, with leading brands following the trend GettyI tested some delicious sweet and spicy flavors, such as pumpkin spice, pecan spice, and honeycomb, rating each on a scale from 1 to 5.
So, which of them turned out to be true finds, and which were duds?
Pumpkin Spice Caramel
- Starbucks, £6.25 (calories 240, sugar 32.3 g)
The Starbucks drink tasted delicious, but it had to be rated lower for its nutritional value
Darren Fletcher
After the first sip, it was my favorite drink, packed with cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.
However, my smile quickly faded when I learned that this cup contained 240 calories and exceeded the daily sugar limit for an adult.
So, despite its deliciousness, its cost and nutritional value were controversial.
RATING: 4/5
Pumpkin Latte
- Pret, £3.99 (calories 183, sugar 24.6 g)
The taste of pumpkin and spices at Pret was perfectly balanced and became the winner of our tasting
Darren Fletcher
Autumn in a cup. The coffee was well-roasted, and the taste of pumpkin spice came through nicely.
No cream, with a little milk - just a pleasant cinnamon-dusted option compared to the others. And it smelled amazing.
The price was justified, and the calories were fewer.
What else could you want?
RATING: 5/5
Maple Pecan Latte
- Costa, £4.75 (calories 240, sugar 13.4 g)
Autumn flavor from Costa Coffee 'luxury' did not turn out to be too exciting
Darren Fletcher
Although this drink was described as 'luxury', I didn’t taste any distinct flavor.
The added cream mixed in with the coffee dulled the taste.
The first sip was just sweet, even though it had the least amount of sugar.
Unfortunately, it didn’t make a strong impression.
RATING: 3/5
Honeycomb Latte
- McDonald's, £2.99 (calories 190, sugar 26 g)
The honey latte from McDonald's was the cheapest of the six, and I regret that it was so
Darren Fletcher
This pale drink with light bubbles looked more like fat. The cheapest of all, and unfortunately, it showed.
The yellow bubbles on the surface were probably honeycomb, but looked more like oil.
The taste remained weak - like water with honeycomb.
I will not buy this drink again.
RATING: 1/5
Pumpkin Latte
- Greggs, £3.25 (calories 204, sugar 25 g)
The pumpkin latte from Greggs had a lot of sugar, but the flavor was noticeable
Darren Fletcher
This drink consisted of 'freshly ground coffee, frothed milk, sweet pumpkin syrup, sugar, sweetener, cream, and sugar sprinkled with spices.'
In other words, a lot of sugar.
The NHS recommends that adults consume no more than 30g per day.
Although the taste was a bit bland, the pumpkin spices were still quite pronounced.
RATING: 2/5
Spiced Pecan Latte
- Caffe Nero, £4.90 (calories 193, sugar 27.7 g)
The spiced pecan latte from Caffe Nero had an interesting aftertaste, but low calories compared to the others
Darren Fletcher
If you love nuts, this drink is for you.
A newcomer to the Caffe Nero menu, the spiced pecan latte consists of espresso, frothed milk and sweet nut syrup with baked spices, all topped with cinnamon.
In my opinion, it turned out to be excessive, and the pecan had a slightly weird aftertaste.
However, considering its low calories, it’s worth giving it a chance.
RATING: 3/5
