Bloody stain on the dartboard: referee stops the World Championship final.
Incident with the target at the World Dart Championship
According to The Sun: LUKE LITTLER believes that the decision to replace the target, stained with blood, during his match against Gien van Veen was somewhat exaggerated. Referee George Noble stopped the World Dart Championship final when he noticed a drop of blood on the fifth segment of the board. Noble requested to replace the target with a new one, which sparked discussion.
“It was quite an unpleasant moment,” noted Littler.
He added that this decision left an impression on him, as similar incidents had not occurred before.
This incident at the World Dart Championship provoked mixed reactions among viewers and experts. Athletes often encounter various circumstances during competitions, but the issues of safety and cleanliness of equipment always remain a priority. The discussion of this case may prompt a reconsideration of rules regarding equipment at future competitions.
