At McDonald's in Chicago, burgers from around the world are prepared: what flavors impressed

According to The Sun: Have you ever wondered what burgers you can find at McDonald's in Brazil? Or what desserts are popular in Japan?

In one of the unique restaurants, you can not only guess but also taste dishes from around the world without leaving the country.

Did you know that at McDonald's you can order burgers from around the world? Qin Xie I tried two of their global menus during my visit to Chicago Qin Xie Qin Xie

Global Menu in the Education Center

The global headquarters of McDonald's is located in West Loop Chicago, next to Google, and is connected to the Hamburger University — an educational institution for McDonald's restaurant managers.

Although the university is not open to visitors, the headquarters gladly welcomes guests.

Recently, here was the only McDonald's that offered a global menu — a selection of the most popular dishes from various countries.

This restaurant stands out for its exquisite service — customers scan a QR code on the table, and the ordered food is brought right to them. There is also an option to dine outside.

Taste Delicious Dishes

During my first visit, I tried dishes from seven different countries, ordering everything they offered. I started with McAloo Tikki from India — a vegetarian potato and pea burger.

I expected a light curry flavor, but instead received a somewhat spicy croquette filled with raw onion. Not the best start.

Next was McCrispy Bacon and Cheese Melt from Brazil, a modification of the similar version from the UK. This dish was impressive.

The brioche toast contained a baked chicken breast with crispy bacon and a delicious cheese sauce that spilled out from the first bite. Really tasty, though quite messy.

My favorite was the Triple Onion Burger from South Korea — a great version of the classic Big Mac that deserves to be ordered again. You get a beef burger with a slice of cheese and lettuce in brioche bread, but instead of pickles, there are thinly sliced red onion, caramelized white onion, and crispy onion, adding flavor and texture. It was simply delicious.

As a side, I ordered Deluxe Potatoes from France — potato wedges that were quite nice, though not matching the luxurious name.

The desserts turned out to be the biggest disappointment. Banana Tart McFlurry from Japan — a combination of banana puree, cracker crumbs, and vanilla ice cream — melted so quickly that it turned into a milkshake. The taste was decent, but it was far from the McFlurry you would get in the UK.

The burger from Brazil was messy but tasty Qin Xie The Canadian burger with hot honey was also a winner in my opinion Qin Xie

I also tried McPops — a version of sugar donuts from McDonald's. There were two flavors: white chocolate from Spain and berry from Switzerland. Both were ordinary, though the jam donuts from your regular supermarket might have been better.

The global menu changes every few months, and since I was staying in the city when a new menu came out, I returned for another round. McAloo Tikki remained, and McPops got a new filling — a Biscoff version from Spain, but it was too doughy.

I was delighted to see two new burgers. One of them was McRaclette from Switzerland, a beef burger in square bread with pepper sauce, raw onion, and pickles. The taste was more like a Big Mac with white sauce, but still quite tasty.

McAloo Tikki from India disappointed with its texture Qin Xie Qin Xie And the donuts were not much better than the regular ones from the supermarket in the UK Qin Xie

The other burger is the McCrispy with hot honey from Canada. Like the McCrispy from Brazil, it was served with crispy bacon, but instead of cheese, it had lettuce and sweet chili sauce. The most delicious part were the deep-fried jalapeno peppers, which added even more texture and flavor.

As a side, the Deluxe Potatoes from France were replaced with spiral fries from Malaysia — these spicy twisted fries turned out to be a nice alternative, though an unnecessary order.

And for dessert — another McFlurry. This time it was the Chips Ahoy! version from Guatemala, containing cookie chunks and sweet sauce mixed with vanilla ice cream.

The burgers were the best choices, while the global desserts did not impress Qin Xie

Like last time, it melted quickly, but I enjoyed the milkshake version with cookie dough.

Having tried the McDonald's global menu twice, I can say with certainty that the experience was mixed. The desserts were mostly disappointing, and the sides did not impress, so next time I will definitely stick to the traditional menu. The real stars were the burgers.

They are modifications of classic dishes that change the bread, sauces, and fillings, yet are so different that they look like new exciting options.

So if you're planning to visit Chicago and want to try the global menu, don't miss the restaurant at 1035 W Randolph — or find it on UberEats, as they offer delivery as well.
