The coin, featuring the famous Chinese pagoda, was first issued in 2009.

Currently, this coin is valued at around £350. King's Gardens is one of the rarest coins of the Royal Mint, with only 210,000 of these coins issued.

The design includes decorative grape leaves that encircle the famous garden pagoda.

“Demand for the 50p coin was low in 2009, resulting in an unusually low mintage,” said representatives of the Royal Mint.

The coin held the title of the rarest in the UK from 2009 to 2023 until it was surpassed by the 50p coin commemorating the Atlantic salmon.

This coin is not the only one dedicated to King's Gardens; another version was released in 2019, but only the 2009 coin is considered valuable.

Recently, one of the collectible coins sold for an impressive £193.73 on eBay during an auction with over 20 bidders.

Another version of the 50p, sold in Surrey, was purchased on eBay for £354.50 last month.

Rare Coins at Auctions

This news comes after The Sun reported that certain rare 50p coins have sold for 5000 times their face value.

Following a heated bidding war on eBay, the 2011 'Lines on the Face' coin from Olympic swimming was sold for an incredible £2606.56.

The eBay listing attracted 12 bids before the coin found its new owner.

The seller described the coin as having remained in its original cellophane and being in “excellent” condition.

This rare coin was issued as one of 29 commemorative coins produced by the Royal Mint in honor of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Each coin reflects a different Olympic sport, and many of them are now considered extremely rare and highly valued.

The Olympic swimming coin depicts a swimmer diving into a pool.

However, 600 coins were accidentally scratched with lines around the swimmer's face due to a mistake.

Despite seeming undesirable, "error coins" are highly sought after by collectors.

Collectors strive to own rare coins, and error coins are among the most valuable in their collections.
