Iconic US fast food chain with 3,000 sites confirms return to Britain with new restaurants opening from this autumn.
Return of the popular fast food chain to Britain
According to The Sun: The famous American fast food chain is set to open its first permanent restaurant in the United Kingdom in Leeds this autumn.
This move is part of the brand's plan to open five restaurants in the UK over the next two years, with a total investment of $100 million (£74 million) over the next decade.

Chick-fil-A, known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries, has confirmed that the establishment will open in Yorkshire this year as part of its £74 million expansion.
The new restaurant will create between 70 and 120 jobs, and it will be managed by micro-operator Mike Hoy, who the company describes as experienced in the restaurant business.
This opening follows the launch of two Chick-fil-A restaurants in Northern Ireland earlier this year in Lisburn and Templepatrick, attempting to re-enter the UK market.
The last attempt by Chick-fil-A in Britain ended in controversy.
“We have no social or political agenda,” the company emphasized in the past, however, protests overshadowed its launch and led to its withdrawal from the UK market.
Brand ambitions and strategies
Despite past challenges, the brand, founded in Atlanta in 1967, continues to expand in North America and is once again focusing on Europe.
CEO Andrew T. Cathy noted that the UK and Asia are key international growth areas for Chick-fil-A.
“Expansion in Europe and Asia is a key milestone for Chick-fil-A,” he stated.
Furthermore, the chain closes all its restaurants on Sundays, adhering to a tradition based on the religious beliefs of founder Truett Cathy, which remains an integral part of the business.
The Leeds restaurant will become the brand's first permanent establishment in the UK, with plans to open additional locations in London and Liverpool.
Other American fast food chains in Britain
Chick-fil-A is not the only American chain expanding in the UK. This summer, another chain confirmed its first locations opening in Britain.
Carl’s Jr., which already has one restaurant in Cardiff, plans to open six more outlets, including its first in England.
Popeyes also announced its plans to open 45 new restaurants across the country.
Wingstop also plans to open 20 new locations in the UK.
Newcomers include Chuck E Cheese, which plans to launch six branches in England and Scotland.
What’s on the menu at Chick-Fil-A?
Some of the most popular items at Chick-fil-A are chicken nuggets, waffle fries, classic chicken sandwich, and spicy chicken sandwich.
The original Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich features a freshly cooked chicken breast, prepared in 100% refined peanut oil, served on a toasted bun with dill pickles.
Nuggets and waffle fries are also staple menu items.
Customers can also order breakfast, including biscuits, salads, desserts, coffee, and more.
The chain is known for its lemonades, which are offered in regular, diet, and strawberry varieties.
The original recipe for the drink contains only three ingredients – freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar from sugarcane, and water.
Chick-fil-A aims to finally establish itself in the UK market after a mixed past, expanding its business opportunities in the UK. Their strategic approach to opening new restaurants may indicate serious intentions from the company, as well as the potential for American chains in Europe. Whether Chick-fil-A can overcome its past difficulties and receive positive feedback from local consumers remains to be seen.
