Conflict between Glasner and Parish over Marc Guehi

According to The Sun: Oliver Glasner won the battle with Steve Parish for captain Marc Guehi.

The most successful manager in Crystal Palace's history tried to keep his captain at the late stage of the transfer window.

Glasner clearly expressed his desire for Guehi to stay after the victory over Aston Villa.

Some in the club worried he might leave if the defender was sold.

After winning the FA Cup in May and triumphing over Liverpool in the Community Shield, it was time for Glasner to assert his strength.

However, Palace sought compensation for Guehi, who could leave the club for free in a year.

From January he will be able to sign a preliminary agreement with foreign clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Liverpool agreed to a £35 million deal with the Eagles for the 25-year-old defender, and even underwent a medical in London.

Premier League champions requested an extension to finalize the transfer, but the deal fell through an hour later.

Palace also tried to sign replacements, including Igor Julio from Brighton. The deal was going well until West Ham intervened and signed the Brazilian.

Insufficient activity from Glasner during a 'passive' summer created tension in his relationship with the club's management.

After a slow transfer window last year and a poor start to the season, there were promises this time would be different.

However, the Eagles had to wait until the last week to activate big transfers, following Eberechi Eze's move to Arsenal.

Glasner assured that he would not discuss a new deal if the window did not meet his requirements.

Like Guehi, he is also finishing his contract at the end of the season.

On the final day of the transfer window, Palace signed teenage defender Jaidon Canvott, while Odsonne Edouard joined Lense on a permanent basis.

Additionally, the club made a request to loan Manor Solomon from Tottenham, while Bilal El Hannous, who was also a target for Palace, signed a loan deal with Stuttgart from Leicester City.

Guehi also commented on the situation after the game against Aston Villa.

“I can't say I like the excessive attention,” he said. “Many cameras are constantly in front of my face and are always talking about me. I'm glad to have a good club, good teammates.”
“When you focus on the important things, namely football, everything is much easier. I'm happy my family could be around, as well as the staff and everyone at Palace, so yes, it's good.”

The situation around Marc Guehi demonstrates how crucial it is for the club to retain key players. Despite Liverpool's attempts to acquire the defender, Glasner managed to stand his ground. This highlights not only Guehi's importance to the team, but also how the transfer window can affect the dynamics within the club. In the face of squad changes and Russian competitions, the club must continue working to strengthen the team, as Glasner's future at Palace also remains in question.
