This decision was the result of a series of events. In the four months after a disappointing performance in the fight for a spot in the Champions League, questions about the coach's future were growing.
Misunderstandings with the owner
After Nottingham Forest failed to qualify for the Champions League, the tension between the coach and club owner Evangelos Marinakis only increased. They discussed issues regarding the lack of reinforcements in the squad.
Nuno noted that his relationship with Marinakis is no longer what it used to be and that 'where there is smoke, there is fire', commenting on rumors of a possible dismissal.
At the press conference, Nuno's communication style was unusual, surprising those present.
Understanding among the management
The conflict between Nuno and the club's new sporting director Edu Gaspar added misunderstandings to the situation. Nuno expressed a desire to sign newcomers, but there were disagreements between them regarding the goals for strengthening the squad.
The defeat to West Ham was the last straw, and the decision was made to sack Nuno.
