Russian drones struck a house in Poland: NATO convenes a security council

According to The Sun: Photos of the couple whose home was damaged by a Russian drone have emerged in Poland.

Retirees Tomasz and Alicja Wesolowski had just woken up in their home in Wyrki-Wola when Russian drones began flying overhead.

AFP Police are at the Wesolowskis' home, which was destroyed by Russian drones that violated Polish airspace during an attack on Ukraine. AFP The Wesolowskis' house was left without a roof after Russian drones destroyed it on Wednesday morning. The map shows how the drones flew across the Ukrainian border and entered Polish airspace.

One of the drones crashed through the window of the second floor of the two-story brick house in eastern Poland at 6:30 AM on Wednesday.

Consequences of the Attack

Tomasz was watching the latest news about this invasion when the drones damaged the roof and scattered debris across their bedroom. They happily emerged from the situation without serious injuries.

As a result of the morning attack, more British troops may be sent to Poland. NATO confirmed it will defend 'every inch' of its territory after the 'deliberate' invasion of drones from Russia.

Putin's drones invaded Polish airspace, prompting Warsaw to shoot them down and activate NATO's Article 4 - one point below the threshold of war.

In response to requests from Poland and Ukraine, the UK pledged to take action in response to Putin's actions.

“After our discussions today, I asked our UK armed forces to consider options to bolster NATO's air defenses over Poland,” said Defence Minister John Healey.

Currently, about 300 British troops are already present in Poland, and Healey promised to 'do everything possible'. This could involve increasing the contingent in the east of the country.

Response to the Incident

Healey added: “Russia's actions are reckless, dangerous, unprecedented. We see what Putin is doing.”

“Time and again he tests us. And we come to assist once more,” he emphasized. Opposition leader Keir Starmer called the attack “a blatant and unprecedented violation” of NATO airspace.

In his view, this is evidence of Putin's “open contempt” for peace. He noted he had spoken with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk: “I am grateful to NATO and Polish forces, who responded promptly to protect the Alliance.”

Tusk also noted that 19 Russian drones flew across the border amid the attack on western Ukraine, bringing his country closer to “the closest conflict since World War II.”

One of the drones reportedly fell in Poland overnight. EPA Polish emergency services are investigating the crash site.

Four of the drones were shot down by NATO fighter jets from Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the US, while officials later confirmed that seven of them were found on the ground.

This is the first time since the beginning of the war that NATO has directly faced Russia, although planes have been scrambled several times without entering into battle.

Kremlin representatives deny any involvement with the drones and even shamelessly hint that they may have been launched from Kyiv.

Addressing allies, Zelensky stated: “This is an extremely dangerous precedent for Europe.”

“A strong response is needed, and it can only be a collective reaction from all partners: Ukraine, Poland, all Europeans, the United States,” he said.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reported that the Security Council met today to discuss Poland's request regarding Article 4.

“Allies are firmly committed to defending every inch of alliance territory,” he added.
