Iraqi Judoka Tests Positive in Doping Test Ahead of Paris Olympic Games
Iraqi judoka Sajjad Ghanem Sehen tested positive in a doping test ahead of the Paris Olympic Games. The information was provided on the International Testing Agency (ITA) website.
A laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in Paris detected traces of the banned substances methandienone and boldenone (anabolic steroids) in the athlete's sample collected on July 23.
This is the first case of a positive doping test at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Ghanem Sehen was informed of the results and temporarily suspended in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and IOC rules. The athlete is prohibited from participating in competitions, training, and any activities during the Games.
Ghanem Sehen has the right to request analysis of sample B and may appeal the temporary suspension in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Paris Olympics will continue until August 11.
It is worth mentioning that today, July 26, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place in France, where tennis player Elina Svitolina will carry the flag of Ukraine.
