IRGC Statement Warns of Potential Attacks on U.S. Campuses

According to TSN.ua: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a stark warning, threatening to target American universities in the Middle East in retaliation for attacks on Iranian educational institutions. The IRGC demands that the U.S. government formally condemn the bombing of universities by 12:00 p.m. Tehran time on Monday, March 30. Failure to do so, the organization stated, will trigger retaliatory measures.

IRGC Advisory for American University Personnel

In a related advisory, the IRGC urged all staff, faculty, and students at American universities in the region to exercise extreme caution and maintain a distance of at least one kilometer from campus grounds. This warning comes amid escalating regional tensions and follows a series of attacks, including airstrikes carried out on Friday night into Saturday against the University of Science and Technology in northeastern Tehran.

It is worth noting that branches of Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the United Arab Emirates are among the U.S. institutions operating in the Persian Gulf region. As the IRGC stated,

“If the U.S. government wants its universities in the region to avoid retaliation… it must condemn the bombing of universities in an official statement by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, Tehran time”
(IRGC).

These threats from the IRGC mark a serious escalation in tensions between Iran and the United States, raising the potential for renewed conflict in the region. American universities now face significant new security challenges for their personnel and students, which could disrupt their operations in the Middle East. The unfolding situation demands close attention, as its consequences may extend beyond U.S.-Iran relations to affect international educational institutions operating in the area.
