Sybiga urged the world to intensify sanctions against Iran: for repression and the war in Ukraine.

According to ТСН: Kyiv believes that the Iranian government continues to disregard human life, both on an international level by supporting Moscow and in its own country by harshly suppressing civil resistance.

This opinion was expressed by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga on the social network X.

The Unified Nature of Evil

The head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized that Tehran's actions cannot be viewed in isolation.

"Iran's support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and repression against its own citizens are parts of the same policy of violence and disrespect for human dignity," the diplomat noted.

He added that the people of Iran have the right to basic freedoms: access to information, freedom of assembly, and personal security.

Ukraine's Experience and Call for Sanctions

Sybiga emphasized that Ukraine has the moral right to make such statements, as it has itself endured the struggle against dictatorship.

"As a country that has overcome totalitarian and authoritarian rule in the past, resisted repression, and defended its democratic choice, Ukraine especially values civil rights; thus, we call on the Iranian authorities to refrain from violence against protesters," the statement said.

The minister called on the international community not to limit itself to mere expressions of concern. Kyiv insists on considering the possibility of "increasing pressure on the Iranian regime" for crimes committed against its own people as well as its participation in the war against Ukraine.

Earlier, Western media reported a decline in the popularity of pro-Russian regimes worldwide, and protest sentiments in Iran are creating serious problems for the Ayatollahs' authorities.

This situation underscores the importance of international pressure on Iran, especially in the context of its support for Russia's aggressive actions in Ukraine. The rise of protests in Iran indicates public dissatisfaction with the regime, which could become an additional factor in the strategic pressure on Tehran.
