Changes in the taste of drinks in the United Kingdom
Britons will soon be able to experience significant changes in the flavors of their favorite soft drinks, cold coffees, and creamy milkshakes. Health Minister Wes Streeting confirmed that even more beverage manufacturers are required to reduce the sugar content in their recipes to avoid the 'sugar tax'.According to The Sun: Previously, this law only applied to the sweetest non-alcoholic beverages, such as full-sugar colas, but now other drinks will join them.
“These measures are necessary to improve the health of the population and reduce sugar consumption,” said Streeting.
The new initiative of the British government aims to improve the health of the population, particularly combatting the obesity epidemic and diseases caused by excessive sugar consumption. Changes in the recipes of drinks may also affect consumer preferences and the soft drink market in the country.
