Liverpool newcomer Isak received a yellow card in his first match after the transfer.
Isak's first match for Liverpool ended in failure
According to The Sun: Alexander Isak got into a serious conflict just a few minutes after coming on the field in his debut match for Liverpool.
Purchased for 130 million pounds, he came on as a substitute in Sweden's game against Kosovo in the World Cup qualification tournament.
ReutersIsak, 25 years old, entered the field 18 minutes before the end of the match but failed to impact the game and received a yellow card just nine minutes later.
During the conflict with Fidan Alimi, he grabbed him by the shirt.
ReutersSweden lost 0-2, leaving them in third place in Group B, behind Kosovo and Switzerland.
This match was Isak's first after he did not play in the previous game against Slovenia. Coach Jon Dahl Tomasson noted that the player lacked sufficient match rhythm.
“He has only had three training sessions with the team. He did not have a preseason preparation and, of course, had no playing time. The risk was, perhaps, a bit too great to use him.”
The unfortunate return to the field means that Isak's first game for Liverpool may take place on Sunday against Burnley.
Last season he scored 23 goals in the Premier League for Newcastle, drawing Liverpool's attention.
Reuters ReutersAlexander will compete for a starting position with another new signing Hugo Ekitike, who has already scored two goals in three Premier League matches.
After this match, Isak will need to regain his form and prove that he is worth the high price paid for him. Despite the debut failure, his potential already indicates that he can become an important player for Liverpool in future matches.
