ISU investigates support for the war by Russian figure skaters: what is known.
ISU's reaction to the appeal regarding Russian figure skaters
According to inkorr.com: The International Skating Union (ISU) responded to the appeal from 'Glavkom' concerning Russian athletes who expressed support for the war on social media, despite previously having the status of 'neutral.'
'Thank you for your inquiry. We acknowledge receipt of your letter and information. The ISU takes all matters related to athlete behavior and adherence to our rules seriously. All information received regarding AIN status is being verified in accordance with our procedures. We maintain confidentiality regarding investigations. Any decisions will be announced through official ISU channels,' the ISU stated in their response.
It should be noted that figure skater Ksenia Korzhova liked a post supporting aggression against Ukraine on Instagram and Vladimir Putin, who is under sanctions. Her colleagues, also ranked as 'neutral' athletes, Anna Urazova and Oleksandra Sayutina, also expressed their support for the war.
The ISU emphasized its serious stance on athletes' support for the war and promises to conduct thorough checks on their statuses.
This situation has generated significant resonance in the sports world and among fans, as athletes' behavior can greatly impact their reputation and careers. The ISU's response indicates the regulatory body's determination to uphold its principles on sports ethics and responsibility.
