Nicolas Jackson returns to Chelsea

According to The Sun: Nicolas Jackson, the Senegalese footballer, is likely to return to Chelsea as news of his loan to Bayern has emerged. The player signed a deal with the Bundesliga club on the last day of the transfer window after failing to secure a spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge.

Jackson, who is 24 years old, almost missed out on a loan as Chelsea attempted to cancel the deal due to Liam Delap's injury in a match against Fulham. However, the club decided to let Jackson go on loan while instead recalling Marc Guéhi from Sunderland.

It seems that the striker's return to England is inevitable. Bayern's chief Uli Hoeness stated that the team does not plan to buy Jackson, and to stay in the squad, he needs to PLAY 40 MATCHES this season.

“The player and his agent take €3 million (£2.6 million), so we pay €13.5 million (£11.71 million) for the loan,” Hoeness said.
“There will be no permanent contract. This is only possible if he plays 40 matches from the start, but that will never happen.”

Bayern has already played two matches in the Bundesliga, with 32 remaining, as there are only 18 clubs in the league. Vicente Compañí's team is also participating in the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, so there will be even more opportunities for Jackson to play.

Competition for a place in the squad

However, the Belgian coach usually uses only one striker and currently has no reason to change Harry Kane, who has performed excellently since his move to Germany in 2023. He has already scored 91 goals in 100 matches for Bayern and has three goals this season.

Jackson joined Bayern because the club failed to sign primary target Nick Woltemade, who moved to Newcastle. Hoeness emphasized: “We are very satisfied at FC Bayern. We are true winners of the summer transfer window.”

“We have a strong team, and we did not need to significantly strengthen it.”
“We offered €55 million (£47.7 million) for Nick Woltemade, while Stuttgart asked for €75 million (£65 million). Eventually, he moved [to Newcastle] for €90 million (£78 million). What Newcastle is doing has nothing to do with football. It is like Monopoly these days.”

The situation with Jackson highlights the current challenges for players dreaming of making their mark in big football. Despite numerous loan opportunities, the real competition for a place in the squad remains a serious barrier. Upcoming Bayern matches could be a crucial test for Jackson and his ambitions to return to Chelsea's first team.
