James Shea, the goalkeeper for Luton, is struggling to get used to calling his long-time friend Jack Wilshere 'gaffer'. Shea and Wilshere grew up together at the Arsenal academy and secured an impressive victory in the FA Youth Cup against Liverpool in 2009.Wilshere became a favorite of Arsene Wenger, while Shea was released in 2013. Over the years, their careers have taken different paths, but now, as Wilshere takes on the role of coach, James is still surprised by this change.“I can't believe I'm now calling him 'gaffer',” admits Shea.
According to The Sun: This highlights how dynamics and roles change in the lives of footballers, especially when someone among friends rises to a managerial position. This situation also illustrates how sport can affect personal relationships and career paths, forming new roles within the team.
