Shopaholism in the Age of Shein: How Thousands of Hryvnias Turn into Trash.
Expenses on Clothing from a Shopaholic
According to The Sun: Loren Meyers found herself amidst six bags filled with fast fashion clothing and realized she had spent thousands of pounds on items she would never wear again. She admitted that as soon as she books a vacation, she instantly rushes to stores like Shein and PrettyLittleThing to buy new swimsuits, even though her closet is overflowing with clothes.
“I just couldn't say no,” says Loren.
This behavior has led to the accumulation of an enormous amount of unused clothing, as Loren constantly bought new items even when there was no need for them. It raised questions of consumer responsibility and the environmental impacts of the fashion industry.
The issue of excessive clothing consumption is becoming increasingly relevant today. Cultural and social factors contribute to people quite often succumbing to the temptation of fast fashion, forgetting about the consequences for the ecology and economy. Thus, this situation calls for not only personal responsibility from each of us but also a conscious approach to shopping and lifestyle as a whole.
