The trio of leaders from Gosden prepares for British Champions Day: who are the favorites.
Gosden prepares his horses for the British Champions Day
According to The Sun: John Gosden has reported that his three main participants are ready for British Champions Day, which will take place at Ascot next week. If all goes well, he will have the opportunity to win his seventh Trainer of the Year title.
Getty Ombudsman is currently the favorite in the Champion StakesPAA key participant will be Ombudsman in the Champion Stakes, who is currently the favorite with odds of 15-8. Although there were suggestions to participate in international races, including the Breeders' Cup and competitions in Japan, he will first head to Ascot due to favorable weather and good preparation of the turf track.
Also prepared for return is Field Gold, who has not performed since injury in the Sussex Stakes, in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, while Gold Cup winner Trollman is getting ready to compete in the Long Distance Cup.
Gosden told Sun Racing: “They are all well prepared for their races, and I am very pleased with them. We hope that there will be good ground coverage next week as we haven't had such conditions for a long time.”
Each of the three participants has a good chance, and the odds for the trifecta are only 15-1. If several of them finish in the top three, Gosden will become more competitive in the fight for the title. Currently, he trails championship leader Aidan O'Brien by over a million, but five Group 1 races will take place at Ascot next week, which could change the game.
If Ombudsman wins the Champion Stakes, he will earn nearly £750,000.
Gosden added: “It is unlikely, Aidan will be a very tough competitor. We have often succeeded in the championship over the years, so we will see how next week unfolds.”
British Champions Day has long been an important event for fans of horse racing. Success in such competitions can significantly enhance the status of both the trainer and the horse, as well as be a crucial milestone in the careers of both jockeys and the team itself. In Ukraine, horse racing is also gaining popularity, and watching the successes of such distinguished trainers as Gosden is becoming more interesting.
