Famous trainer changes plans: Ombudsman will miss the fight with Delacroix

According to The Sun: Trainer John Gosden has decided not to enter the star horse Ombudsman in the upcoming meeting with Delacroix at the Irish Championship, which will take place next weekend.

Following Gosden's change of plans, bookmakers significantly lowered Ombudsman's chances of winning.

Ombudsman, winner of Juddmonte, previously had a good chance of winning against the Coral-Eclipse winner Aidan O'Brien.

However, he will miss the meeting at Leopardstown and focus on Champion Days at Ascot, the Breeders' Cup, and the Japanese Cup competition.

Delacroix has made it to the list of favorites, receiving odds of 5-6 in the big group race at Leopardstown.

Moreover, Johnny Murtagh's colt Zaraan, the Japanese guest Shin Emperor, and Anmat Owen Burroughs also hold positions on the bookmakers' list.

Gosden, explaining his decision to withdraw Ombudsman, casually mentioned his major rival O'Brien.

The topic of the tempo horses in the main races of the season has become a real talking point.

Delacroix achieved victory in the complicated Coral-Eclipse, while Gosden's horse, Field of Gold, was beaten by O'Brien's team by a difference of 150-1 by the pacemaker Kirat in the Sussex Stakes.

The express setter Godolphin Birr Castle at one moment looked like a potential winner of the Juddmonte International at York, but Ombudsman finished successfully at a later stage.

Gosden hinted at O'Brien, noting that Ombudsman would not be able to 'appreciate competing against several horses from the same stable'.

He also said that the short straight at Leopardstown and the fact that the horse had not competed since May were serious obstacles.

Ombudsman's withdrawal from the races may impact the competition schedule and players' bets. Gosden, as an experienced trainer, made the decision based on the horse's condition and strategic considerations. From now on, all eyes are on Delacroix, who has every chance to stand out in the upcoming competitions at Leopardstown.
