Ukraine Introduces New Limits on Fuel Cashback

According to Novyny.live: The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is set to impose a fixed cashback limit on fuel purchases, applying the same cap to all drivers regardless of how much fuel they buy. Under the upcoming regulations, each consumer will receive a maximum of 1,000 Ukrainian hryvnias in cashback per month. This move aims to restructure the existing cashback system currently operating at Ukrainian gas stations (AZS).

The cashback program will run until May 1, 2026, giving drivers a limited window to claim compensation for their fuel expenses. The refund rates for different fuel types are as follows:

  • 15% on diesel fuel
  • 10% on gasoline
  • 5% on autogas
Ivan Palchevsky commented: 'Under this program, the plan is to cap cashback at 1,000 UAH per consumer per month.'

By enforcing these caps, all drivers filling up at gas stations will be able to receive cashback only within the established limit, which could alter their fuel spending habits. The decision stems from a need to use budget funds more efficiently while still supporting consumers amid challenging economic conditions.

This cashback restriction could serve as a key measure to assist drivers facing volatile fuel prices. At the same time, setting a fixed ceiling may reduce the government's outlay on compensation programs, a critical step given constrained fiscal resources. Against the backdrop of broader economic difficulties, such initiatives aim to optimize consumer expenses and bring greater stability to the fuel sector.
