Kadyrov's Condition Critical: Who Can Lead Chechnya After Him.
According to ТСН: The health of the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, has deteriorated due to kidney failure, which may lead to the emergence of a new leader in the republic soon.
Forecasts Regarding New Leadership
Political scientist Vadim Denisenko noted that Kadyrov's son will not be able to become the new head of the republic without changes to the legislation.
“The only thing we can say for sure is that the son cannot be the head of the republic. Appointing one of the sons would violate or require rewriting the legislation. Until now, Putin has always tried to avoid such things. Ultimately, if he were playing this game, we would be seeing Kadyrov's children in the Kremlin more often. But Putin is clearly distancing himself from such a decision,”the expert emphasized.
He added that while it is impossible to completely dismiss the option of appointing the son, it currently seems unlikely. The Kremlin seeks to avoid internal conflicts and ensure a controlled transition of power. Denisenko believes that the new leader could be either the head of the Chechen government, Magomed Daudov, or State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov.
Expected Changes in Leadership
“Daudov will provide an extremely tough line on suppressing 'everyone and everything'. Delimkhanov is more comfortable for Moscow, although not as harsh. Both will continue Kadyrov's line, who maintained power through a system of collective responsibility for the actions of their clan members,”Denisenko noted.
Among the possible candidates, the commander of the Chechen special forces, Apti Alaudinov, is also being discussed; however, his appointment may provoke a conflict with Kadyrov's clan.
“Alaudinov is from a different clan. Although he is the most loyal to the Kremlin. Therefore, his appointment currently seems unlikely,”he added.
In Denisenko's opinion, the appointment of Kadyrov's successor should aim to prevent internal strife.
“What will definitely happen is a reduction in Chechnya's autonomy and the actual loss of influence of the Chechen leadership over the National Guard and its Chechen units. Unfortunately, there is currently no talk of separatism. Something might change only when the center starts to weaken,”the expert concluded.
It should be noted that Kadyrov is undergoing dialysis in his own hospital in Chechnya, and doctors are not providing any forecasts. His family, including members from other countries, has already arrived. Kadyrov is on the verge of death.
It remains to be seen how events in Chechnya will develop, as a potential transfer of power could be a decisive moment for the region. In the face of instability that may arise, it is crucial that the new leader has the support of the Kremlin to avoid internal conflicts and maintain control over the republic. These events could significantly impact the political situation in Russia as a whole.
