Kaja Kallas' Statement

The Kremlin's latest terrorist attack in Kyiv undermines all efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to achieve peace in Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on August 29 during an informal meeting of European Union defense ministers in Copenhagen, FREEДОМ reports.

According to Kallas, all summits, including the one in Alaska where Trump met with Putin, and the meeting in Washington with European leaders and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have provided the Russian dictator with a desired propaganda victory.

“These attacks show that Putin is simply mocking any peace efforts. Therefore, we need to increase pressure on Russia, and they really understand this — pressure,” emphasized the head of EU diplomacy.

Kallas also urged to enhance support for Ukraine.

“Ukraine needs support now, and needs military support right now. That is why we are also discussing with defense ministers what more we can do right now. We have an initiative regarding ammunition, and we have set a deadline — the end of this year. We are discussing whether we can implement it. Because they certainly need ammunition, they certainly need air defense and other weapons. And this also needs to be discussed right now,” Kallas stated.

Situation in Ukraine

Previously, it was reported that rescue operations in Kyiv had been completed after one of the most horrific Russian strikes. Rescuers are currently continuing to dismantle the structures of the building, where an entire entrance collapsed due to the strike. As a result of the attack on August 28, 23 people were killed, including four children.
