Zelensky on China: Beijing finances the RF war, not the peace process

According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, emphasized that Beijing does not demonstrate a genuine desire to engage in a peaceful resolution of the war. According to the head of state, China is increasing its economic support for Russia.

The Role of China in the Russian Economy

The president pointed out that, despite Kyiv's hopes, China's role is currently destructive, as the country has become the main financial 'donor' of the Russian military machine.

“As of today, China is the largest importer, and we know where this money goes. The money from Russian energy exports is being spent by Russia on the war. Unfortunately, this is the role of China today,” the president emphasized.

Hopes for a Peaceful Track

Volodymyr Zelensky added that Ukraine has never refused dialogue with China and has always sought to see it as an active participant in the peace process.

Key points from the President:

  • Increase in imports: Beijing has increased purchases of Russian energy resources since the start of the full-scale invasion.

  • Financing Aggression: Excessive profits from trade with the PRC allow the Kremlin to continue arms production and maintain its army.

  • Peace Initiatives: Ukraine is still interested in involving China in implementing the 'Peace Formula', but currently sees no reciprocal steps.

Earlier, Kyiv repeatedly called on Beijing to use its influence on Moscow to force Russia to stop its aggression. However, China continues to adhere to a policy of 'neutrality', which effectively contributes to the economic sustainability of the RF.

Volodymyr Zelensky also reported the use of Chinese satellite reconnaissance by Russia to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

In the context of these statements, it is important for Ukraine to continue seeking ways to peacefully resolve the conflict, hoping that the international community, including China, will take an active part in the process. The economic support that Beijing provides to Russia raises concerns on the Ukrainian side, as it directly affects the duration and intensity of the war.
