China sharply refuses to participate in nuclear talks with the US and Russia.
China refuses to participate in nuclear negotiations
According to inkorr.com: China has no intention of joining discussions between the US and Russia regarding nuclear weapons. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Go Jiakun emphasized that it is unreasonable to demand China's participation in long-term trilateral agreements due to significant differences in the scale of nuclear arsenals.
'The nuclear capabilities of China and the United States are at different levels, and the strategic security environment and nuclear policies of these countries are also completely different. Therefore, it is unrealistic to demand China's participation in long-term trilateral negotiations on nuclear disarmament with the US and Russia.', - stressed the Chinese diplomat.
Since China possesses significantly fewer nuclear weapons than the US, its participation in such negotiations currently seems insignificant. China adheres to a policy of not being the first to use nuclear weapons and also supports a defensive nuclear strategy. Meanwhile, countries with the largest nuclear arsenals must fulfill their obligations regarding nuclear disarmament.
China's refusal to participate in negotiations between the US and Russia pertains to critical discrepancies in the scale of their nuclear arsenals. The Chinese government has also emphasized the importance of adhering to the conditions and obligations regarding nuclear disarmament.
China continues to advocate its position on nuclear security, highlighting the need to consider the difference in nuclear capabilities. This decision may impact global discussions on arms control, as involving China in trilateral disarmament talks appears unlikely in the near future.Read also
