The Ukrainian car market grew by 20%: Chinese BYD overtook Toyota and Volkswagen.
According to inkorr.com: The Ukrainian car market showed unexpected activity in the autumn. In September 2025, over 6.8 thousand new passenger cars were registered, which is 20% more than last year. This also exceeds the figures for August, according to the Ministry of Finance.
Sharp growth of the Chinese brand BYD
For comparison: traditional leaders such as Toyota and Volkswagen sold 828 and 733 cars respectively. In particular, Volkswagen set a new record as the ID.Unyx electric vehicle became the most popular model in September, topping the rankings for the first time.
This time, the sales leader was the Chinese company BYD, which demonstrated incredible growth – the number of cars sold increased fivefold compared to last year's figures, reaching 989 units.

In 2025, nearly 53 thousand new cars were registered in Ukraine. However, this is 0.3% less compared to the previous year. This situation indicates uneven market recovery, with September featuring significant growth.
Moreover, Ukrainians will have more options when choosing cars, as sellers are now required to provide information on various characteristics.
September was an important month for the Ukrainian car market, with noticeable growth in passenger car sales and the dominance of the Chinese brand BYD.
