Chinese company Baidu is preparing a new version of artificial intelligence Ernie 5.0
The Chinese tech giant Baidu plans to release an updated version of its artificial intelligence Ernie 5.0 in the second half of 2025. This is a response to the intensified competition from foreign companies, particularly OpenAI.
The new model Ernie 5.0 is expected to have significant improvements in multimodal capabilities. It will be able to work with various types of information, including text, video, images, and audio. Additionally, Ernie 5.0 will be able to combine these types of information, allowing for the transformation of text into video and vice versa.
Baidu's CEO, Robin Li, noted that using artificial intelligence models can significantly reduce operating costs. He also mentioned that this cost reduction will lead to increased productivity. Thus, the development of Ernie 5.0 may be an important step in enhancing the efficiency of artificial intelligence applications across various industries.
Baidu has already successfully used the Ernie model, for example, in cloud services and on the Wenku platform for creating presentations and documents. The number of Wenku users has increased by 60% to 40 million over the year.
