Mark 01 on driver's licenses: what the code means for millions of Ukrainians.
According to inkorr.com: Drivers who use glasses or contact lenses may see a mark with the code '01' in their licenses. It indicates the mandatory use of visual correction aids while driving a car. Such entries are made not by chance—they are part of the system for monitoring road safety and a legally enshrined requirement.
This was reported by the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
When the medical commission decides on the necessity of using glasses or contact lenses, this information is recorded in the medical certificate. When obtaining or exchanging a driver's license, the data from the certificate is entered into the 'Special Marks' section. This ensures that during checks, the police see that the use of visual correction aids is mandatory, not a recommendation.
- 01.01 – glasses;
- 01.02 – contact lenses;
- 01.05 – eye patch;
- 01.06 – glasses or contact lenses.
Medical certificate for drivers with glasses or lenses
A medical certificate is required in several cases: when initially obtaining a license, when exchanging it due to a change of surname or expiration, opening a new category, or after losing the right to drive. During the state of war, the certificate is temporarily not mandatory during a regular exchange of licenses.
The '01' mark on the driver's license confirms the mandatory use of visual correction aids while driving a car. It emphasizes the importance of quality eyesight on the road and contributes to ensuring safety in urban and overall traffic.
Thus, compliance with the requirements for visual correction on the road is not only a legislative necessity but also an important aspect of the safety of drivers and pedestrians. This decision highlights the responsibility of drivers for their health and the well-being of other road users.
