Mykhailo Kokhan won bronze in Budapest: how the Ukrainian competed with Olympic medalists.
The Continental Tour stage in athletics took place in Budapest, where Olympic medalist Mykhailo Kokhan represented Ukraine. The Ukrainian won the bronze medal, reported 'Suspilne'.
Kokhan back on the podium
Mykhailo was one of the contenders for the gold medal but finished in third place. This result confirmed his stability, as he had already won medals in 12 out of 14 tournaments this season.
In the competition, he faced strong opponents, including Olympic medalists Ethan Katzberg and Bence Galash.
Katzberg led after the first attempts with a result of 81.01 meters. Kokhan started with 75.55 meters and was in fourth place. However, after a few attempts, the Ukrainian moved into third place, while Galash claimed first place with a result of 81.85 meters. Kokhan's best performance—80.84 meters in the fourth attempt—secured him the bronze.
During the fifth attempt, Galash set a new season record (83.18 meters), surpassing American Rudy Winkler (83.16 meters). This medal became the Ukrainian's 13th podium finish of the season.
