Oleksandr Usyk may meet Wilder: when to expect the fight.
Rumors have started circulating about a potential fight between the undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk and former champion from the USA Deontay Wilder. This was reported by Usyk's team director Serhiy Lapin.
Team Usyk's director Serhiy Lapin spoke about the potential fight with Wilder, as reported by World Boxing News.
Lapin believes that such a meeting is possible, but it all depends on circumstances since Wilder is not currently a mandatory challenger. 'Wilder remains one of the most powerful knockout artists in world boxing, but he is at a crossroads. However, it would be a mistake to underestimate him — he is unpredictable and dangerous,' Lapin noted.
Deontay Wilder, who is 39 years old, recently defeated Tyrell Herndon by technical knockout in the seventh round. Wilder has expressed his desire to fight for the title again and consequently parted ways with his trainer Malik Scott, who had previously commented on the American's ability to defeat Usyk. After this, the expert became much more cautious in his comments.
According to Usyk's team director, a possible match between the Ukrainian boxer and the American champion is real, but depends on resolving issues regarding rankings and fight conditions. At the end of this match, one can expect a true boxing duel between two masters in the ring.
