According to Novyny.live: A commander at a military unit in Chernihiv has been convicted of embezzling over 1.5 million hryvnias in state funds by creating a fictitious headquarters to carry out his scheme. For nearly a year, he received payments for services that were never actually provided. According to the evidence, the state paid 1,551,832 hryvnias for these fraudulent services. This case highlights the ongoing challenges of corruption within Ukraine's defense sector during a time of national crisis.
The court found the commander guilty of abuse of power and sentenced him to five years in prison. However, the punishment was converted to a probationary period, allowing him to avoid actual imprisonment. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and ordered the seizure of over 545,000 hryvnias in bail money to be transferred to the military unit.
