The Council of Judges has extended the competition in the High Qualification Commission of Judges: only two candidates for key positions.

According to inkorr.com: The Council of Judges of Ukraine has extended the deadline for submitting documents for participation in the competition for vacancies on the Commission, which is responsible for selecting members of the High Qualification Commission of Judges. Candidates can now submit their applications until September 11, 2021.

According to the legislation, the Council of Judges must send three of its representatives to the commission. However, the final selection of commission members is made under the control of the High Council of Justice, so it is important to have several candidates. The minimum threshold for submitting candidates from the Council of Judges is no less than six people.

Currently, only two judges have submitted their documents:OLEXANDR KOTKOV - Judge of the Economic Court of KyivVOLODYMYR PETROV - Judge of the Economic Court of Odesa region.

This decision was made due to low interest in participating in the competition for these positions. It is also reported that issues of dual citizenship were discussed at the World Congress of Ukrainians.

The current situation

The process of appointing members of the High Qualification Commission is ongoing, but there is no significant demand among judges to participate in the competition. The Council of Judges of Ukraine has decided to extend the deadline for submitting documents to ensure a sufficient number of candidates to select qualified specialists for the respective positions.
