In Poland, attackers who beat a Ukrainian in a tram over language were detained

According to ТСН: An attack occurred on a Ukrainian citizen in a tram in the Polish city of Poznan. The man was traveling with his companion when the aggression flared up after the attackers heard the Ukrainian language.

According to a witness, Poznan city council member Andrzej Prendke, two men began verbally provoking the Ukrainian, demanding that he 'leave our women.'

As a result of the attack, the assailants knocked the man to the floor of the tram and began to kick him. The woman who tried to defend the victim also suffered injuries. Other passengers attempted to intervene, but the aggressors began to threaten them, stating,

that 'they are doing this for them.'

The affected couple decided to exit the tram, during which one of the attackers shouted threats in Russian. Prendke offered his assistance and wanted to contact the police, but the victims refused.

Despite this, the police were able to identify and detain the attackers, who turned out to be two 27-year-old men. They are currently in custody and are being prepared for charges of a crime based on discrimination. Under Polish law, such actions carry a penalty of up to five years in prison.

This incident highlights the growing concern for the safety of Ukrainians in Poland, considering that there have been previous instances of harassment in the country, including a case where a teacher harassed children from Ukraine and later they were brutally beaten by Polish students. This raises questions about the state of interethnic relations in the region and the need to strengthen security measures for all citizens.
