Deserter Detained for Smuggling Draft Dodgers Abroad: Details of the Scheme.
According to ТСН: The escaped soldier organized illegal smuggling of draft dodgers
Details of the Criminal Scheme
A serviceman who escaped in Transcarpathia devised a scheme for illegal smuggling of draft dodgers abroad. According to the State Border Service, he involved five accomplices in his activities.
Criminals' Plan
The perpetrators attempted to smuggle two individuals from Ukraine to Romania, bypassing checkpoints. For their services, they planned to charge $8,000 USD each.
Detention
Law enforcement managed to prevent the illegal crossing of the border by detaining all participants of the scheme.
The perpetrators have been informed of suspicion under part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, 'Illegal transport of persons across the state border of Ukraine', and preventive measures have been chosen in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail.
Punishment
For their actions, they face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years.
This incident highlights serious risks and consequences of attempts at illegal emigration. Similar cases, like the organization of transporting draft dodgers abroad, indicate a rising demand for illegal escape routes from mobilization, and law enforcement continues to intensify the fight against such schemes.
