Fermín López was not interested in Chelsea's offer

According to The Sun: Lamine Yamal reported that Fermín López had no plans to move to Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window.

The London club made a £35 million offer for the Barcelona midfielder at the end of the window.

Enzo Maresca's offer was quickly rejected.

It was expected that Chelsea would make a second attempt, as Barcelona valued López at £50 million.

However, the club did not send a new offer, despite losing the opportunity to sign Xavi Simons, who moved to Tottenham.

In contrast, Chelsea completed a loan deal for Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton.

Focusing on securing new deals, club executives also considered reviving the transfer of Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich.

Yamal confirmed that López will remain at Barcelona

The Barcelona star Yamal confirmed that López never intended to move to Chelsea.

He noted that the Londoners did indeed make an offer for the playmaker, but López is happy to stay in Barcelona.

Interestingly, teammates joked with him about a possible move to England.

Yamal said: “We joked with Fermín about a move to England. But he is happy at Barcelona. No one wants to leave. We asked him about that offer from England, but Fermín said he was happy here. He had no plans to leave.”

Besides Buonanotte, Chelsea recalled Marc Guéhi from Sunderland on the last day of the transfer window as a replacement for injured Liam Delap.

Just a few days ago, the club completed a £40 million deal for Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

However, Chelsea failed to offload some unsuccessful transfers, including Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi, while Ben Chilwell received a free transfer to sister club Strasbourg.

Thus, despite attempts to secure new deals, Chelsea faced issues in the transfer market again. López's rejection of the move and new signings could indicate that the club is looking to bet on young players, particularly on the loan of Facundo Buonanotte. This may suggest changes in the team's strategy for the upcoming seasons.
