22-year-old lawyer died during examination: what caused the tragedy

According to The Sun: 22-year-old Leticia Paul tragically died after a severe allergic reaction to a CT scan. The girl was affected by a special dye used during the procedure.

“She was a lively girl with a big personality. She loved law, she was so studious. She dreamed big, and I am sure she would have become a household name in the legal world,” said her aunt Sandra Paul.

The young lawyer had a degree in law and was studying for a postgraduate course in law and real estate. She was buried on Thursday in Rio do Sul before being transported to the crematorium.

Leticia was found to have a rare disease caused by a reaction to the contrast dye during the medical scanning. This dye can sometimes cause severe reactions that are rare but very dangerous. This mysterious disorder can have serious consequences for the kidneys and other organs of the patient, posing a significant threat to their health and life.

Reactions to contrast agents

In medical practice, there are two serious reactions to contrast agents: Contrast-Induced Nephropathy (CIN) and Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF). Studies show that these disorders can have serious consequences for patients, especially those who already have kidney problems.

  • CIN can cause an acute deterioration of kidney function in a short time, caused by the use of certain contrast agents. This disorder can lead to serious complications and pose a threat to the patient's life.
  • NSF, while less common, can have a serious impact on organs and systems in the body. This disease can lead to serious skin issues and other organ problems that require immediate treatment and attention.

Given the potential risks and possible consequences, medical professionals must be vigilant and cautious when applying contrast agents to patients, especially those at high risk of reactions to them.
