Delap was already replaced by Tyric George in the 14th minute after needing assistance due to a leg injury.

"Liam Delap will be out for 10-12 weeks, unfortunately, this is a long road."

This injury has significantly affected Chelsea's plans, as the transfer deadline was just two days after Delap's injury.

The planned loan of Nicolas Jackson to the German club Bayern Munich is hanging in the balance as the 'Blues' attempted to reverse the deal and keep the Senegalese player.

Jackson wanted to finalize the deal, leading to tensions between the player and the club.

Chelsea has turned to young talent Marc Guéhi, recalling him from a short loan at promoted Sunderland to fill the vacant position due to Delap's injury.

Delap joined Chelsea in June, moving from Ipswich for an estimated £30 million.

The new player João Pedro will now take on the main striker role of the London club.

The Brazilian has successfully started his career at Stamford Bridge, scoring two goals and providing two assists in three Premier League games this season. The question remains, how Delap's absence will affect his productivity.

Delap's absence will be a critical test for Chelsea as the club tries to maintain its position in the league. As experience has shown, injuries to key players can have significant impacts on team results. Now the coaching staff's task is to find effective solutions to maintain competitiveness without their main striker.
