Summit on Southeast Europe and Ukraine Convenes
According to UATV: On July 15, 2023, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen landed in Kyiv to take part in the 'Southeast Europe — Ukraine' summit. She was joined by leaders from Romania, Moldova, Serbia, and the Prime Minister of Croatia. This gathering serves as a key forum for advancing cooperation between Ukraine and neighboring regional states.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed that a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had taken place. Sybiha remarked:
“Kyiv welcomes distinguished guests on Ukraine’s Statehood Day. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Southeast European leaders will hold productive talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.”
Significance of the Summit
This marks the fourth such gathering in 2025, following the previous summit held in Dubrovnik. The format underscores Ukraine’s growing role in regional collaboration and joint efforts to address shared challenges.
