Nations League: All Possible Scenarios for the Ukrainian National Team Before the Final Round.
In the group stage of the Nations League 2024/25, the last, sixth round remains. The Ukrainian national team will close this part of the tournament with a match against Albania on Tuesday, November 19.
After a draw in the match against Georgia (1:1), Serhiy Rebrov's team has five points and occupies the fourth position in Group B1. It lags behind Georgia and Albania in the second and third places by two points.
Group B1 Standings
- Czech Republic - 8 points (5 matches), 7:7 (goal difference)
- Georgia - 7 (5), 6:4
- Albania - 7 (5), 3:4
- Ukraine - 5 (5), 6:7
The fourth place currently occupied by Ukraine threatens direct relegation to Division C of the Nations League. The first position has become unattainable for Rebrov's charges - the group leader Czech Republic has three points more than the 'blue-yellows' and has an advantage in head-to-head matches.
The match against Albania becomes particularly important, as it depends on Ukraine's ability to claim the second position in the group and, accordingly, to participate in the playoffs for promotion. It is also important to consider the results of another match on Tuesday, where Georgia will face the Czech Republic.
All Scenarios for Ukraine in the Sixth Round of the Nations League 2024/25
- Victory over Albania and a draw between Georgia and Czech Republic - second position for Ukraine (playoffs for promotion to Division A).
- Victory over Albania and a win for Georgia against Czech Republic - third position for Ukraine (playoffs to retain place in Division B).
- Draw or loss to Albania - fourth position (relegation to Division C).
In its history of participation in the Nations League, the Ukrainian team has never played in the third division of the Euro tournament. Last season (2022/23), the team stopped a step away from promotion to League A - the gap from Scotland was two points.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian team drew with the Georgian team in the fifth round of the group stage of the Nations League season 2024/25. The match at the Batumi Arena stadium in the Georgian city of Batumi ended with a score of 1:1.
The 'blue-yellows' scored in the 7th minute of the match - the home defender Solomon Kvirkvelia scored an own goal after Mykhailo Mudryk's cross from the right flank.
In the 76th minute, Georgia equalized the score. Georges Mikautadze, who came on in the second half, scored the ball into the empty net after Trubin saved a header from Giorgi Kochorashvili.
