According to inkorr.com: Ukrainians have been provided with useful information about the costs of treatment in Poland without medical insurance. According to 'Khyvlya' and medonet.pl, this can be quite expensive.
In Poland, medical services without insurance will not be cheap. Even seemingly minor health issues can lead to significant financial expenses.
If you do not have medical insurance in Poland, any illness or injury can be a real blow to your budget. Although in critical situations, when life and death are at stake, help will be provided to everyone without exception, the bill for medical services rendered must be paid in full – it can amount to several tens of thousands of zloty.
Hospital treatment costs: specific amounts
Even a short-term hospitalization can cost thousands of zloty. For example, at the Warsaw Voivodeship Infectious Diseases Hospital, the prices are as follows:
- the first three days of treatment in the infectious department - 5000 zloty (fixed fee upon hospitalization);
- further every day of stay - 800 zloty;
- other expenses such as tests, medications, specialist consultations, and medical procedures - paid separately.
The cost of physician services is also high:
- Professor consultation - 500 zloty.
- Resident consultation - 400 zloty.
- Doctor with a scientific degree consultation - 350 zloty.
- Examination of potential sources of infection - 230 zloty.
Price of laboratory tests
Patients without insurance have to pay for tests separately:
- General urine analysis - 25 zloty.
- Total cholesterol - 12 zloty.
- Lipid profile package (cholesterol, HDL, TG, LDL) - 52 zloty.
- Acute phase protein (CRP) - 25 zloty.
- Antibodies to HIV - 35 zloty.
How much does a visit to a family doctor (POZ) cost
A consultation with a family doctor costs about 200 zloty. If the doctor refers to additional examinations, the price may increase:
- General blood test (morphology): 25-40 zloty;
- General urine analysis: 20-30 zloty;
- Blood glucose level test: 15-25 zloty;
- Electrocardiogram (ECG): 50-80 zloty;
- Abdominal ultrasound: 150-200 zloty;
Thus, a visit to a regular doctor with basic examinations can cost 300-500 zloty.
It is worth noting that Poland is a popular destination for Ukrainians looking for work or temporary residence. However, the absence of medical insurance can lead to serious financial expenses, so it is advisable to consider insurance issues before traveling to Poland.
