Ukrainians are changing the rules for carrying cash abroad: what amounts need to be declared.
The citizens of Ukraine should be aware of certain rules for crossing the state border to avoid problems and not face fines or refusals when leaving. Everyone embarking on a trip takes money with them. The more cash one has, the more questions may arise from customs officers.
What amount can be taken out of Ukraine
Ukrainians can carry any currency, both national and foreign. When crossing the border, it is necessary to inform customs officers of cash amounts exceeding 10,000 euros (at the NBU exchange rate on the day of departure).
Money can be taken out of Ukraine without restrictions; however, it must be declared in writing. That is, if the amount exceeds 10,000 euros, this amount must be stated. For example, if you have 12,340 euros, you must declare 2,340 euros.
Interestingly, each individual can take out up to 10,000 euros without documentation. This limit applies to each individual person, not to a family. Therefore, the limit can be increased by dividing the money among the husband, wife, and children.
"Regarding minors: they have the right to carry foreign currency values in the amount/value established by law. Declaration on behalf of a person who has not reached the age of 16 is carried out by their legal representative," the State Customs Service reported.
After you have declared currency at the border once, you do not need to do this while traveling through Europe. Carrying cash within the Schengen zone is not restricted.
How much money can be carried on a card
To avoid problems at the border, it is better to keep money in bank accounts. This is one of the safest ways to carry large amounts abroad, as the declaration rules do not apply to bank cards.
It's also worth remembering that during the war, there may be restrictions regarding international transfers and cash withdrawals in other countries. Therefore, it is better to have both cash and bank cards with you.
When crossing the border between Ukraine and Poland, citizens are subject to passport and customs control, adhering to all rules regarding documents, luggage, and cash.
It is prohibited to import products containing GMOs, unregistered pesticides, electric fishing rods, drugs, potent poisons, ammunition, propaganda materials, and others into Ukraine.
The rules for crossing the border and carrying money out of Ukraine are quite flexible; however, it is essential to remember the necessity of adhering to certain restrictions and procedures. The most important thing is to always be ready to declare money when crossing the border, especially if the amount exceeds 10,000 euros. Also, consider the possibility of keeping funds in a bank account to avoid potential problems and inconveniences during your travels.Read also
