Manchester City enters the race for Guehi: who will win in the transfer battle.
Transfer prospects for Marc Guehi
According to The Sun: Liverpool's hopes of signing defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace have suffered a serious blow — one of their main rivals is also showing interest in him.
It was previously believed that the club had already agreed on a transfer, as Guehi had undergone a medical examination and agreed to a five-year contract worth £35 million.

However, Crystal Palace halted the deal due to the inability to find a replacement for their leading defender.
Now the chances of Liverpool signing the 25-year-old player for free next summer, when his contract expires, are decreasing — Guehi is also being targeted by several top European clubs.
Among the interested teams are giants such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Juventus, and now Manchester City has also joined the competition.
According to Daily Mirror, Pep Guardiola's team is interested in the captain of Crystal Palace, who helped his team win the FA Cup final against Manchester City last season.
Guehi's rising popularity
Guehi's play is becoming increasingly noticeable. He recently played a key role in qualifying matches for the World Cup involving England against Andorra and Serbia, scoring a goal in the last match.
This season, he also has the opportunity to showcase his talent in European competitions, debuting in the Conference League, which will further strengthen his reputation.
Many believe that Guehi is ready to move to a club that can compete for the title in the Premier League, as Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with this defender.
Despite the growing interest, Guehi remained a professional during the transfer window, deciding to wait at least until January before a possible transfer.
He has been a key player for Crystal Palace since his move from Chelsea in 2021, quickly becoming one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner noted that the club will not sell Guehi until they find a worthy replacement for him.

He emphasized that the defender is “essential” for their hopes of a successful season. The club attempted to sign Igor Juliu from Brighton on loan, but when that deal fell through, any possible negotiations regarding Guehi were postponed.
“We had a meeting in March where we discussed the situation and agreed that we could sell Marc if we found a suitable replacement. We wanted the replacement to be ready before the start of the season. But now, on August 31, that replacement is not there,” Glasner noted.
“Obviously, one part of our agreement was not fulfilled, which means we cannot sell Marc. This is not a desire, it is a necessity for a successful season.”
According to SunSport, Guehi has informed Crystal Palace that he does not intend to extend his contract, and the club is willing to consider offers in January to avoid losing the player for free.

The growing interest in Marc Guehi reflects his effectiveness on the field and importance both for the club and the national team. If Crystal Palace cannot find sense in a sale, the club should be prepared for discussions with other teams to retain the asset in the coming months. The situation with Guehi could be a key factor in the further development of affairs in Crystal Palace and its potential rivals. Read also
