Lubinets explained the purpose of creating military commandant's offices in the Kursk region.
Ukraine may create military commandant's offices in the Kursk region, "as this will be needed to provide humanitarian assistance to local residents", said the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets.
He recalled that at the meeting on August 14 with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, the issue of military commandant's offices was discussed.
"(This was discussed – ed.) in order to have coordination among the military units that are there, including for the voluntary position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the form of providing humanitarian assistance to the local population, it will be necessary to create military commandant's offices", Lubinets noted.
He said that "whether military commandant's offices will appear or not will be decided by the military command of Ukraine. This issue is discussed solely on the basis of international law".
A military commandant's office is an agency that operates in a specific region or zone and is responsible for military issues. Its scope of activity extends to interaction with local government authorities, organizing security at important sites, and providing the military with everything necessary.
