According to Espreso.tv: Politician Yuriy Luzenko has shared his insights on recent changes within Ukraine’s government, specifically the resignation of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and the appointment of a new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mykhailo Drapatyi. These shifts come amid ongoing war and internal tensions. Fedorov’s departure followed a conflict with Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, a dispute that sparked widespread public protests.

On July 14, 2023, the Verkhovna Rada voted to dismiss the Svyrydenko government. The very next day, July 15, Fedorov announced his own resignation. Reports indicate that Fedorov had pushed for Syrskyi’s removal after an audit he ordered uncovered overspending totaling 300 billion UAH in the Defense Ministry and the Armed Forces. Alongside Fedorov, his advisors Serhiy Sternenko and Serhiy Beskrestnov also stepped down.

Protests in support of Fedorov erupted on July 17, 2023, drawing over 10,000 participants. In response, lawmaker Kachura called an emergency session of the parliament on July 20, 2023, to hear from both Syrskyi and Fedorov. Meanwhile, 43-year-old Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi was appointed as the new Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

Luzenko noted that 'Zelenskyy blamed Fedorov for the work of the TCCs (military enlistment offices).'
