Nations are dying out: a country with a 96% population decrease

The world's population is declining, and this is becoming a challenge for the modern world as there is no migration to compensate for it. The situation is particularly difficult in South Korea and China.

Demographers confirm this issue. The key indicator is the 'population replacement rate'. To maintain the current population size, this figure must be more than 2.1 children per woman. Most countries do not reach this level.

If the birth rate falls below 1.6, the population will halve over three generations. And if it falls below 1.2, the population shrinks by 80% over a century.

The lowest birth rates are observed in South Korea (0.75), China (1.10), Poland and Spain (1.12), Japan (1.16), Ukraine (1.22), Russia (1.42), and the USA (1.60). The average birth rate in the EU is 1.69, but Kazakhstan has the highest birth rate - 3.13. Every third woman is childless, indicating a demographic crisis.

Without considering migration, South Korea's population could decrease by 96% over the next hundred years. In the USA, the population could decrease by 47%, in France - by 46%, in Germany - by 68%, in Ukraine - by 76%, in Italy - by 78%, in Japan - by 81%, in China - by 88%, in Thailand - by 89%. Similar processes are also occurring in other countries such as Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Mexico.

The main reasons for this issue are rising living costs, which force young people to postpone marriage and childbirth, and a desire to obtain higher education and build a career. Long life expectancy also does not help maintain birth rates at necessary levels.

Experts predict that by the year 2200, the world could face a 'catastrophic collapse', so each country must take measures to improve the birth rate situation.

By the end of this century, the planet's population could decrease by hundreds of millions of people. States are competing for the workforce, creating attractive conditions for young people, which will lead to changes in the geopolitical situation and a new world order.

Data from China indicate a population decline of 1.39 million people in 2024, despite a population of over 1.4 billion.

In South Korea, every fifth citizen is 65 or older. The number of people aged 65 and older constitutes 20% of the total population, classifying it as a 'super-aged society' according to the UN.
