Litler hopes that something extraordinary, similar to the super maximum 167 in snooker, which was introduced in Saudi Arabia last year, will appear during the arrival of professional dart players at the Global Theater in Riyadh.
“It has been announced, but for us players, we received an email about the number of allowed guests, but I haven't seen any mention of money yet. But I am sure I won't be going there for free!”
Litler noted that while he likes new concepts, the World Championship should remain in London. He emphasized: “Leave it at Ally Pally. But if everything goes well, I am sure we will be there often. I only heard about the 167 in snooker from Matchroom's movie.”
“But a million for 147, and then 167! Maybe he will come up with a golden nine-dart finish. I think that would be perfect.”
Litler recently amazed everyone by beating Gerwijn Plais in the fourth round of the World Grand Prix, finishing the match at 152. After being down 2-0, he managed to gather himself and return to the game.
“When I got back on stage, I thought I just have to move forward. The match really helps. I already knew I could rebuild and that's exactly what I did.”
Gerwijn tried to throw Litler off during the match, but he responded with an ironic smile.
“I was just smiling inside when he was celebrating. But that’s what you have to do - stay calm, come back and win the match.”Luk Litler demonstrates enthusiasm and confidence in his abilities, dreaming of great achievements on the international stage. His optimism extends not only to darts but also to new formats of competitions that may emerge in the future. With changes in approaches and innovations in the sport, this could open new opportunities for young talents like Litler in world-class competitions.
