Willie Mullins sold successful debutant Thread Of Gold: who is the new owner.
According to The Sun: Willie Mullins convinced his wife Jackie to sell their “incredibly promising” horse after an impressive offer followed his successful debut.
Thread Of Gold became Mullins' first two-year-old debutant in 13 years, confidently winning the race at the carousel last month.

He started the race at 11-1 under the guidance of Joey Sheridan, then made a smooth leap, crossing the finish line confidently with one furlong to go in the seven-furlong distance.
Thread Of Gold, which cost just over £100,000 in December 2023, took the contest and attracted the attention of many wealthy owners.
The offer came from Team Valor, winners of the 2011 Kentucky Derby. Mullins admitted that he and Jackie did not hesitate with their response when they received this amount.
While he didn’t disclose the offer's details, Mullins, who made over £30 million in Ireland and the UK over the last five seasons, emphasized that their decision was quick.
Willie also noted that Thread Of Gold impressed him with his performances at home and believes that this horse may participate in the Melbourne Cup in the future.
Team Valor’s CEO Barry Irwin also expressed confidence that this horse will be able to run long distances in the future.
“Thread Of Gold is an incredibly interesting horse. I think the only reason we were able to acquire him was the timing and that he is gelded,” he said.
Irwin emphasized that the team is interested in horses that can run long distances and that cooperating with Willie will be a new experience for them.
Next plans for Thread Of Gold
The next possible start for Thread Of Gold may be the Group Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown at the end of next month.
The decision to enter Thread Of Gold in further competitions reflects the interest and hopes placed on this horse. Success in the race has already drawn interest not only from owners but also from horse racing fans who eagerly await his future performances. This could be a launching pad for even greater success in the young horse's career.
