Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh decided to donate part of her prize money from the Olympic Games to help animals. She transferred one million hryvnias to the accounts of the UAnimals organization and four animal shelters.

«There are currently a lot of stray animals in Ukraine, and shelters need support to take care of each one. In addition to financial and volunteer help, you can also adopt an animal from trusted shelters into your family, regardless of its breed. My cat was also from a shelter and was also not a breed, but he is the best and my favorite in the world. So, if you have a chance to save an animal - save it», - Mahuchikh stated.

UAnimals organization noted that thanks to the athlete's donation, thousands of animals will receive medicine, food, and a warm place to sleep.

«We are very grateful to Yaroslava Mahuchikh for her willingness to talk about animal protection and draw the attention of many people to this issue. Our goal is to make animal aid a common thing in Ukrainian society, and the voices of such outstanding athletes as Yaroslava Mahuchikh bring us closer to this goal», - noted Lyudmila Smolyar, head of the UAnimals communications department.

After her victory at the Olympics, Yaroslava Mahuchikh announced that she would donate part of her prize money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to a psychological support fund, and to help animals and shelters in occupied territories.

The Ukrainian team outperformed previous Olympic results

Ukrainian athletes won three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals at the Olympic Games. The Ukrainian team exceeded the results of previous Olympics in Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro in terms of the number of gold medals, as well as the total number of awards. Despite the conditions of war, tough training due to air raids and shelling, the Ukrainian team demonstrated a high level of play and delighted their fans.

In addition, Yaroslava Mahuchikh also announced her intention to donate part of her prize money to the needs of the Ukrainian army.
