Mahuchikh and other athletes entered the top three athletes of Europe
Ukrainian high jumper Yaroslava Mahuchikh became one of the three contenders for the title of best athlete of 2024 in Europe, reports European Athletics.
Together with Mahuchikh, Dutch athlete Femke Bol and British athlete Keely Hodgkinson were included in the final trio of contenders for this award.
For men, Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and Greek long jumper Miltiadis Tentoglou will compete for this title.
The award ceremony will take place on October 26 in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Yaroslava Mahuchikh conquered the world record in high jump in 2024, setting a new mark at 2.10 m. She also became an Olympic champion in less than a month.
In the same year, Mahuchikh won all tournaments, including the European Championship and the Diamond League final. She had successes even in the winter period.
However, at the World Championships in Glasgow, she earned a silver medal, becoming second. This is the only event from which Mahuchikh returned without gold.
It was previously announced that European Athletics would hold a vote for the best athletes in 2024.
