Changes to substitution rules in the Premier League

According to The Sun: Premier League club managers may soon have the opportunity to make six substitutions in each match, as well as form squads of 28 players. The increasing workload due to frequent matches and the pace of the game is forcing leading teams to seek new solutions.

“Allowing clubs to sign three more experienced players to the first team squad has become an obvious decision,”
league representatives noted.

The changes in the rules may significantly affect the clubs' strategy, as a greater number of substitutions will allow for more efficient management of players' physical resources. This could give teams more opportunities for squad rotation, which, in turn, may enhance the overall quality of the game and reduce the risk of injuries among footballers.
