Closure of Costa Coffee Cafe

According to The Sun: All Costa Coffee fans received the sad news: the popular cafe on Seamoor Road in Westbourne will close its doors this Sunday, September 14. This will mark the final closure of a venue that has delighted locals with its delicious coffees for over 15 years.

This is the last cafe to close in a series of Costa Coffee closures costa

The closure is part of an unfortunate trend: since September 2024, the chain has already shut down 20 of its stores. The cafe on Seamoor Road, which operated under franchise, will no longer allow customers to enjoy their favorite drinks.

“With great sadness, we announce that we are closing this store. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal customers who have supported our business for the past 15 years. We have enjoyed working with you and getting to know you, but time goes on, and we need to move forward.”

The message also emphasized that regular customers can continue to enjoy coffee at the other 15 Costa stores that remain open in the area.

The majority of the cafe's employees have been transferred to other positions, and the nearest cafe is located on Commercial Road in Bournemouth.

“We can confirm that our Costa Coffee store on Seamoor Road, Westbourne, which is owned and operated by one of our franchises, will be closed.”

“Most of our talented staff have been moved to other jobs. The local community can continue to enjoy their favorite Costa coffee at our nearest store on Commercial Road in Bournemouth.”

Closure of Costa Stores

Residents of Westbourne see the closure as a significant loss, noting the “great customer service” and “delicious” treats offered at the venue.

This decision by the Costa Coffee chain comes against a backdrop of a nationwide trend of store closures. At least 20 stores have closed this year, and recent reports indicate a reduction of the kiosk at Andover bus station by the end of the year.

Closure of Other Chains

Costa is not the only chain reducing its presence. Other brands have also announced store closures. For instance, River Island plans to close up to 33 stores in January next year, hoping to improve its financial situation.

In particular, stores in major UK cities like Edinburgh, Leeds, Oxford, Brighton, and Perth may also close. These shops will remain open until January 2026 while River Island attempts to maximize profit during the peak shopping season.

Regarding Poundland, the chain is awaiting court council approval regarding a reorganization that will involve the closure of 68 stores. This chain was acquired by Gordon Brothers last month during a serious reorganization and investment process.

These events indicate that the retail market in Ukraine and other countries is facing serious challenges. The closure of popular venues like Costa Coffee cafes signifies a shift in consumer habits as well as the economic difficulties faced by even large chains.
